It all started with a house...

Nat and Duncan purchased The Beacon Homestead in 2025 after falling in love with the house and town of Robertson on their first visit.

 

From the friendly people to the beautiful countryside, life in Robertson made them both feel at ease. Having both worked corporate jobs in Sydney for most of their careers, the Southern Highlands was the sea change they both needed to escape the rat race.

 

Unfortunately though, Sydney wasn't quite done with them yet and the demands of work meant that they were unable to spend the time they wanted at the property and so decided to put it up on Airbnb.

 

The first request to host an elopement at the property came just 1 week after the house was first listed on Airbnb for accommodation. A couple was looking for somewhere they could host their small wedding without spending a small fortune to do it. It was a feeling Duncan and Nat knew all too well having been in the throws of planning their own wedding at the time.

The couple felt it was high time someone disrupted the wedding industry and agreed to host the elopement, quickly setting about understanding what would be required to make it achieveable and low-cost.

​

The Beacon Homestead now provides a low-cost location for weddings and events with up to 30 guests. Duncan has become an Authorised Marriage Celebrant and the couple are proud to offer packages that enable couples to marry for under $10,000, while supporting local businesses in the Southern Highlands.
